New iPhones, probably named iPhone 11, are expected in September 2019. Images and models give us the robot portrait: there will be three models, with AMOLED and LCD screens, and all will benefit from a new SoC A13, a new photo sensor and a slightly revised design. Here is all we know at this stage.
Apple is soon to launch new iPhone 2019 and in this issue we suggest that you draw the most credible sketch possible of the next Apple flagship.
Release Date and Price Of iPhone 11
Apple will present the iPhone 11 at a keynote scheduled for September 10, 2019 at 7pm French time.
The event will be held at the Steve Jobs Theater in Apple Park. The marketing date could be set around September 20th in view of Apple’s habits.
The price remains an unknown at this stage – until now Apple has always increased the price of its flagship from one generation to the next.
With the new iPhone XR, last year, a little cheaper, launched at the same time as the iPhone XS and XS Max.
Nevertheless, it is not impossible that Apple may change its strategy a little – against a backdrop of declining sales for several generations.
But again, it is not yet possible to confirm this. The current iPhones are available from the following prices (their price has recently been slightly reduced):
- iPhone XR : 639 €
- iPhone XS : 939 €
- iPhone XS Max : 1039 €
Technical Data Sheet of The iPhone 11
Apple should take advantage of this new iteration to introduce a new SoC that is expected to be very powerful – in view of its predecessors.
So after the A12 Bionic, there will be the A13: we know that the latter went into production in the month of May.
It is expected to benefit from a new burning process TSMC 7nm N7 Pro. The amount of 4 GB of RAM seems to satisfy both the developers of the iOS ecosystem and its users – the iPhones are extremely well optimized. So we expect to find another 4GB on this iteration.
Apple would make efforts on the battery: it is a question of an accumulator of 3110 mAh. But some sources suggest that Apple engineers could go further.
It is not yet clear to what extent the figure of 25% is circulating, but there is no indication at this stage.
They are expected to have reverse charging on at least two variants (which would be appropriate given the imminent launch of a new AirPods unit with Qi wireless charging).
One should have an AMOLED screen on two declensions, probably of the same size as those of the iPhone XS and XS Max (respectively 5,8″ and 6,5″). While the third model will have the same screen size as that of the XR (6.1″).
On the photo side we expect progress with the iPhone 11 Pro, the successors of the iPhone XS and XS Max. First because Apple, like many of its competitors, decided to add a third photo sensor to two of the models.
Their operation becomes clearer as we approach the formalization of the new iPhone. Bloomberg confirms the presence of a wide-angle sensor in models with triple sensor, a first.
The successor of the XR would also have to include a double sensor, probably inherited from the current iPhone XS or the double sensor of the iPhone X.
The selfie camera would also be improved : the three models would benefit from a new TrueDepth set much more precise, with a new 12 MPx sensor capable of taking videos in slow motion.
The design of these iPhones should generally resemble that of current iPhones. Nevertheless, a major element will distinguish them. Apple has decided to invent a new location for its new dual and triple photo sensors.
After having seen many renderings and models, the least we can say is that this originality is not yet unanimously accepted.
The whole thing is indeed thick – it produces an outgrowth that seems larger than that of today’s smartphones.
It is also more visible: from a thin rectangle to an imposing square. Finally, the sensors and flash will be arranged in an asymmetrical zig-zag arrangement.
Everything happens as if Apple had become annoyed to see competitors take up similar lines for their photo modules and decided to challenge them. It will be amusing to see if this design choice will be taken up, or not, by other manufacturers.
Pieces of glass also point to new colours for the iPhone XR’s successors. The latter have a frosted finish – a bit like the rear glass of the Pixel 3. A new purple/lilac and a mint green colour were discovered.
What Will The 2019 iPhone be Called?
The exact name of these iPhones is not yet known but there are many theories. With iPhone X, Apple has decided to switch to Roman numerals.
It therefore seems logical that iPhone 11 should be written in the end iPhone XI. But it seems less obvious, for example, to guess the name of the successor to the iPhone XR
Will it be the iPhone XR 2, the iPhone XT (as acknowledged by brand managers, the “R” does not mean anything particular), the iPhone XR 2019 or even the iPhone XR II? The predictions are open.
Some sources even suggest that all three iPhones will be “iPhone XIS”, but with a new naming convention: there would be the standard iPhone XI (successor to the iPhone XR), an iPhone XI Pro and an XI Pro Max.
It is towards this last possibility that we are moving forward, several sources confirming that we will be entitled to iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max this year, probably in Roman numerals.
